Leigh Milam has been employed in Chancery Court since her appointment in May of 1999 by former Chancellor Joe C. Morris. Upon his death in 2003, James F. Butler became Chancellor, and she has served as Henderson County Chancery Court Clerk and Master by his appointment since that time.
Leigh is a member of the Tennessee State Court Clerks Association and is secretary of the County Officials Association of Tennessee. She was designated as a Certified Public Administrator through the University of Tennessee, Institute for Public Service in September of 2001. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education and Office Administration. She also received an Associate of Science Degree from the Mile Hi Reporting College in Denver, Colorado. In 1987 she was employed as the Certified Court Reporter for the 26th Judicial District Circuit Court, Division II. She remained in that position until her appointment as Clerk and Master in 1999.
Leigh holds three children dear to her heart: Stephen, Jennifer and Bill Milam. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington.
The goal of the Chancery Court Clerk’s office is to discharge the duties of the office diligently, honestly, impartially, courteously and efficiently. Deputies assisting in the Chancery Court are Carolyn Coffman and Monica Wall.
